International traveling art exhibit depicts journey of cancer survivors
On display at the Cancer Center at Parma Hospital
April 14-25, 2008
Witness the very personal journeys of cancer survivors through their artistic expressions in Lilly Oncology on Canvas: Expressions of a Cancer Journey, an international traveling exhibit coming to the Cancer Center at Parma Community General Hospital on April 14.
The exhibit showcases 50 pieces of original artwork that fuse healing and hope, giving the viewer an opportunity to reflect on individual cancer journeys. Initiated in 2004 by Eli Lilly and Company, this biennial art competition invites people diagnosed with cancer, as well as their families, friends and healthcare providers, an opportunity to express life-affirming changes through art. The exhibit coming to Parma Hospital is representative of the 2,000 pieces submitted from 43 countries during the last competition in 2006. The traveling art exhibit inspired people in nearly 200 cities around the globe in 2007.
Oncology on Canvas is currently calling for submissions for the 2008 biennial competition. Art will be accepted in the following media: acrylic, oil, pastel, photography, watercolor and mixed media. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2008.
