New members appointed to Parma Hospital’s Board of Trustees
Board selects new chairman

 

Parma Community General Hospital welcomes five new members to its Board of Trustees and has made several changes to its leadership, including selecting a new chairman. New members, recommended for appointment by their respective mayors, include:

  • Jack P. Marschall, a broadcast journalist with more than 30 years of experience, is the director of Communications and Community Relations for the City of Parma. Marschall has won numerous awards for community service and journalism and has been inducted into the Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
  • Scott D. Curtis, an attorney, represents the City of Seven Hills, where he has lived for 31 years. Curtis served four consecutive terms on the Seven Hills City Council, including as president, and has worked on web initiatives, union negotiations and development of the city’s first master plan in 40 years.
  • Jacqueline M. Patton, president of the Brooklyn Laurel Garden Club, represents the City of Brooklyn. Patton is an assistant manager at Friendly’s Restaurant in Parma Heights, where she has worked for 27 years.
  • Salvatore Sidoti, DPM, a podiatrist who has been a member of Parma Hospital’s medical staff for 18 years, was selected as one of two physician trustees on the board. Dr. Sidoti, who is board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, has had a private medical practice in Parma since 1991.
  • Thomas P. O’Donnell, former law director in North Royalton, represents the City of North Royalton. A trial attorney, he has tried more than 40 criminal and civil jury trials and handled appeals in most northern Ohio appellate districts, the Ohio Supreme Court and the Federal 6th District Court of Appeals.

 

Kent A. Geist, a board member from Parma Heights appointed in 2006, was elected chairman of the board. The senior director of community development for ideastream, parent company of WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN, Geist has worked in public broadcasting for four decades.

 

Other officers elected by the board were: David Nedrich (North Royalton), first vice chairman; JoAnn Mason (Parma), second vice chairman; Robert Bartholomew Jr. (Brooklyn Hts.), secretary; James Rambasek, MD (Medical Staff), treasurer; John H. Bundy (Brooklyn), assistant secretary; Jack C. Krise Jr. (Parma), first assistant treasurer; and Joseph Tal (Parma Heights), second assistant treasurer. Joseph W. Coleman, former chairman of the board, was appointed member-at-large from the City of Seven Hills so that each community will be represented on the Executive Committee. The Board of Trustees consists of members from each of Parma Hospital’s six founding communities: Parma, Parma Heights, Seven Hills, North Royalton, Brooklyn and Brooklyn Heights.

 

Sharon Straker-Martin (Parma) was reappointed to another three-year term by Mayor Dean DePiero. Other members of the board include: Gayle J. Rullo (Parma); Charles F. Harle (Brooklyn Hts.); and Louis D. Ripepi Jr. (Parma).
