The grand opening and dedication of the new North Royalton Family YMCA will take place in ceremonies at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3 at the new facility, 11409 State Road, North Royalton.

The new Y is the result of a partnership between the city of North Royalton, Parma Community General Hospital and the YMCA of Greater Cleveland.

The brand new YMCA will be opened to the public immediately after the grand opening and dedication program.

The new YMCA was constructed on the site of the former Avalon Event Center, which the city of North Royalton purchased for $2.1 million.

The new 50,800 square foot building includes an 8,200 square foot aquatics center with an eight-lane, 25-yard competitive swimming pool, a whirlpool, sauna, locker rooms, four family changing rooms, a 400+ foot elevated indoor track, a 4,500 square foot fitness center, and 1,700 square foot weight room.

Other amenities include a group exercise studio, cycling room, a 6,000 square foot gym, and an outdoor playground.

Parma Community General Hospital has a 7,500 square foot therapy center with a separate entrance within the facility, including a therapy pool and aquatic treadmill, seven consultation and treatment rooms and a therapy gym.

Members of the North Royalton High School Band, under the direction of David Vitale, will provide musical entertainment at the grand opening and dedication ceremony.
