The U.S. Constitution only guarantees your right to pursue happiness, not to actually capture it. Still, many of us spend time and energy chasing goals and believing that happiness is just over the next hill. But there’s always another hill.

Executive Happiness Coach Jim Smith will inspire the audience at Parma Community General Hospital’s 23rd Annual Community Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 7 a.m. at St. Michael’s Woodside in Broadview Heights. Enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast before Smith’s talk, “The Journey to Happiness: Lessons at the Speed of Life.”

Smith was 38 years old before he realized that he alone was responsible for his happiness – and that it was not about “stuff” or future goals, but about how he chose to show up in his life now, in this moment. He began to study happiness and learned how to nurture his emotional “muscles” so he could spend more time in positive rather than negative spaces. So the next time life tried to smack him down, Smith was ready.

The author of Happiness at the Speed of Life: 13 Powerful Strategies for Finding Happiness at Home and On the Job will share the inspiring story of how he has rebounded from terrible times in his life. Following a 20-year career in business, Smith turned in his keys and now works at building more positive workplace cultures, one conversation at a time.

From his home in Cleveland, Smith has coached leaders from 25 countries on five continents to achieve greater happiness and balance. He serves as a Mentor Coach for Newfield Network, one of the top-tier coaching schools in the industry, and he is a founder and past president for the Cleveland Coach Federation. He also teaches in the HR MBA program at Baldwin Wallace University.

Smith will teach some of his most powerful practices to help nurture more happiness and reduce suffering in our own lives. Join fellow community members for a Journey to Happiness.
