Benefits
Parma Community General Hospital respects the diversity of employees’ lives and offers a flexible benefit package to meet the varying needs of employees. The Hospital offers a variety of benefits that employees can choose from including medical, dental, life insurance, disability, 401(k) Plan and many more. Here’s an overview of the Hospital's benefits package offered to employees hired to work 40 hours or more per pay period:
Medical
Medical coverage begins the first of the month following the date of employment. Coverage includes office visits, prescription drugs, inpatient and outpatient hospital services, surgical procedures, wellness check-ups, emergency and vision care.
Plan Option: Supermed PPO (Medical Mutual)
Dental
Dental coverage is offered after the completion of six months of employment with the Hospital. The plan provides coverage for preventative, basic and major services for employees and their eligible dependent(s).
Plan Option: Metlife Preferred Dental Plan (PDP)
Retirement
401(k) Plan: Upon hire, employees may contribute through payroll deduction to save money for retirement. After one year, the Hospital contributes $.50 for every dollar an employee contributes up to 6% of their salary. Employees will receive an Annual Employer Contribution equal to 3% of their annual pay into their 401(k) account if they complete 1,000 paid hours each calendar year and are active on December 31st. Employees are 100% vested in the Hospital’s contributions after two years of service.
Personal Holidays
Full-time employees receive four personal holidays per year. These days are provided to the employees every January to utilize throughout the year. A prorated personal holiday schedule is used when employees are hired after the first of the year. The employees may use their personal days as soon as they start working at PCGH. Part-time employees receive one personal holiday per year if they are hired on or before the last pay period in September.
Legal Holidays
Full-time employees receive straight pay for six legal holidays. If a full-time employee works the holiday, they will receive holiday pay in addition to pay for hours worked. As a part-time employee, you will only receive holiday pay if you work the legal holiday.
Holidays Observed: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day
Vacation
Upon employment, employees accrue vacation time and may use the accrued time after six months of employment. Full-time hourly employees accrue 80 hours of vacation time within one year of employment and 120 hours after five years. All full-time exempt employees accrue 120 hours of vacation time within one year of employment and 160 hours after five years. Part-time employees who are regularly scheduled to work a minimum of 20 hours per pay accrue vacation on a pro-rated basis to a full-time schedule.
Sick Leave
Full-time employees accrue six sick days per year, with a maximum of 30 days accrual. The employee is eligible to utilize their sick leave after six months of employment. Part-time employees who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours per pay accrue sick leave pro-rated to a full-time schedule.
Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment
An employee is provided with one times their annual salary rounded up to the next thousand once they have completed six months of employment. Optional Life insurance and Dependent Life insurance is also offered.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Through this optional program, employees can contribute pre-tax earnings into separate account(s) for use in paying healthcare and/or dependent care expenses after the completion of six months of employment.
Disability Benefits
Short-Term and Long-Term disability benefits are available after the completion of six months of employment. The option to purchase a higher percentage of coverage is available.
Career Development Assistance
Employees are encouraged to seek professional advancement or individual improvements through education. Career development assistance is available to employees after the completion of six months of employment. The Hospital will reimburse 100% of tuition expense to eligible employees. The annual maximum reimbursement to an individual employee is based upon years of service.
Child Care Center
The Child Care Center is professionally staffed and fully licensed. The center is open weekdays with flexible hours and meals. For children six weeks to six years old, with special vacation service for summer break for children from kindergarten to eight years old.
ElderCenter
Personal, dignified care for an employee's parent or spouse. The ElderCenter is open weekdays 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Discounts are available to employees.
Free Parking
Employees have access to a private, lighted garage attached to the Hospital. Parking is convenient and free to all employees.
