Nursing Careers
Parma Community General Hospital nurses work cohesively together to ensure that our patients are comfortable and informed about their care.
Members of the nursing staff have support from nursing leadership, and they are encouraged to become involved in the decision-making process regarding patient care. Our nursing staff consists of highly trained, experienced nurses as well as new graduate nurses. The experienced nurses serve as role models and mentors to our new staff, helping to develop skills and critical thinking while the new graduate nurses bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the units.
New hire nurses will attend a week of nursing orientation as well as a full day of Hospital orientation. The nursing orientation reviews basic skill competencies and medication conversions and calculations. Once the new RN or LPN has completed the orientation, they will begin their individualized unit orientation. Each orientation is designed to meet the needs of the new hire which is based on their nursing experiences and educational backgrounds. A unit preceptor and educator will work with each new hire as they transition to the unit and their primary shift.
