Spine & Pain Center
Four out of five Americans will suffer from neck or back problems at some point during their lives. The fortunate ones have discovered the Spine & Pain Center at Parma Hospital.
The Center tailored to the unique needs of each patient. Treatment can take many forms and begins quickly with a thorough physical exam and diagnostic testing including X-ray or MRI.
Registered nurses with up to 15 years of experience work closely with an anesthesiologist who is Board-certified in both Pain Management and Anesthesiology to bring you unparalleled relief from debilitating pain. Your pain can be managed through medication and a number of interventional procedures.
The Spine & Pain Center offers many of the latest therapies in pain management, including:
- Nerve blocks, to diagnose and treat the source of pain. Therapeutic pain blocks include lumbar and caudal epidural blocks, facet joint blocks, transforaminal epidural steroid injections, trigger point injections, and nerve blocks for migraine headaches.
- Spinal Cord Stimulation, by which an implanted pulse generator emits signals to the brain to trick it into replacing the perception of pain with a mild tingling sensation. The patient controls pain by pressing a button on a hand-held remote control.
- Radio frequency ablation, which utilizes radio frequency energy to interrupt nerve transmission to the medial branch nerves that supply facet joints in the spine. This 30-minute procedure can provide up to two years of relief from pain.
- Vertebroplasty, a minimally invasive procedure in which bone cement is injected into a vertebral compression fracture. The fracture is stabilized, and most patients experience pain relief within minutes to hours.
The center is located in the Outpatient Center, 6305 Powers Blvd., on Parma Hospital’s campus.
