ElderCenter adult day care

For adults caring for an older loved one, ElderCenter brings you the peace of mind of a full-service facility for mild to moderately impaired adults. ElderCenter gives its participants a reason to get up in the morning and activities and friendly faces to look forward to each day.

Designed as an alternative to nursing homes, ElderCenter is a non-profit, secured, wheelchair-accessible facility that can provide a few hours or full days of rest to adults in need. Participants range in age from 21 to 100+ with varying ability levels. Each participant has a personalized plan of care tailored to meet his or her individual social, emotional, recreational, physical and mental needs.

A Typical Day

Every day is different at the ElderCenter. Programs are designed to keep participants mentally and physically engaged through music, singing, dancing, arts, crafts, games, intergenerational programs, field trips, and light exercise.

The ElderCenter provides medication management and support groups. Limited transportation is available.

Caregivers may request additional services including: full-service hair care, wheelchair-accessible showers, podiatry visits, extended hours and 24-hour respite.

A continental breakfast is included each morning, along with a hot nutritional lunch and a healthy snack.

Programs

- The Club -

A weekly retreat for individuals experiencing mild memory loss, The Club provides a structured social program that meets every weekday. Members may have mild cognitive impairment or be entering the early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease, suffering some losses such as job skills, social status, initiative and judgment. However, members must still be able to manage personal care needs, including medication. Members must have a social presence to take part in guiding the Club’s daily activities, which may include discussions, reminiscence sessions, field trips and exercise. Call 440-743-4847.

- Designed Around You (D.A.Y.) -

Another innovative program initiated by ElderCenter, D.A.Y. provides eight weeks of graduated day care to ease the transition between a hospital stay and returning to community living. This valuable time gives caregivers an opportunity to access resources and obtain assistive devices for the return home while giving the patient time to gain strength, confidence and mobility. - Club S.O.D.A. -

A daily program of Service, Opportunities & Development for Active Young Adults who can benefit from a structured, supervised program, Club S.O.D.A. is designed for members ages 21 to 49. Participants must be able to benefit from socialization and engage in activities such as arts, drama, field trips and parties.
