Wound Center
Located on the Parma Hospital campus in the Medical Arts Center 2 building, the Wound Center is an outpatient program with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses and support staff who offer specialized, comprehensive treatment for patients with chronic, non-healing ulcers and wounds.
The wound team evaluates and treats the wound, establishes measures to prevent recurrence and informs the primary care physician of the patient’s progress.
The primary care physician continues to manage the patient’s underlying medical condition.
Types of non-healing wounds treated include:
- Arterial and venous stasis
- Diabetic
- Insect/spider bites
- Non-healing surgical wounds
- Pressure ulcers
- Wounds due to trauma and skin/metastatic malignancies
The interdisciplinary care at the Wound Center is designed to:
→ Complement the primary care physician’s overall medical care
→ Prevent prolonged or permanent disability
→ Decrease amputations
→ Decrease hospitalization
Physicians who see patients include those specializing in podiatry, infectious diseases and general and vascular surgery.
