Parma Community General Hospital formed the Parma
Hospital Health Care Foundation in 1987 as a way
to give something back to the communities it serves.
The Foundation's mission is to provide funding
for community health initiatives and Parma Hospital
projects and programs.
The Parma Hospital Health Care Foundation is a
not-for-profit organization and does not receive
any tax dollar support. The Foundation relies
on community
support through special events like the annual
golf outing; outright donations and planned gifts
such as bequests and transfers of securities.
Past beneficiaries of Foundation grants include
but are not limited to: Parma Hospital's Seasons
of Life Hospice, Parma Health Ministry, Parma
City Schools, Ridgewood YMCA, American Cancer
Society's "Relay For Life", Health Museum
of Cleveland's "Health on Wheels" program,
Parma Fire House for student education and selected
high school seniors in the Hospital's service
area. Their first capital campaign raised $3,000,000
to build the Seasons of Life Residential Hospital
which opened in 2001…the first such facility in
western Cuyahoga County.
The first ever Health Advancement Award was presented
to the Foundation in 1995 by the Ohio Hospital
Association. The award recognizes hospitals with
"visionary leadership that have created new care
delivery programs and services focusing community-wide
preventative health care."
